Selecting Radiators When Space Is An Issue - Even Colour…….!!
It’s never been easier to select the right radiator for every room – whether in a new build home or in a heating system replacement project – the combination of the latest radiator sizing and heat loss calculator software and the widest range of radiators ever available – both from a size and capacity point of view – makes getting exactly the right radiator a piece of cake.
The radiator sizing and heat loss calculator software is available free online – Stelrad’s Stars system is universally used and has recently been upgraded to be even better and easier to use – and available as a download from the web site at www.stelradprofessional.com – and the range of radiators available in the UK and Ireland has never been larger with a wider range of sizes – both vertical and horizontal and capacity – with the traditional P1, K1, P+ and K2 available but now K3s and K4s available too responding in particular to the requirements of lower temperature renewable heating systems where the radiators need to be able to share higher Btus or Watts per radiator but not necessarily from larger radiator footprints.
The flexibility for sizes of radiators has gone full circle with the arrival of a range of different height radiators as well, to slot under windows, in nooks and crannies around the home – especially in smaller spaces. Stelrad has added 900mm and 1200mm high radiators as another response to the needs of heat pump driven systems but also 200mm and 300mm high lowline radiators – in K3 and K4 formats if required and most recently has introduced a full range of 500mm high Compacts to make the Compact range pretty much relevant to every opportunity out there for installers to select the right size and the right capacity option in one.
The arrival of a huge range of vertical radiators has also been a help for specifiers and installers alike. Perfect for slotting into hallways, landings, even bathrooms and kitchens where wall space is at a premium and where height rather than width allows the right capacity radiator to be installed in a room without having to take up more horizontal wall space than is ideal for the overall décor of the room – there’s now an answer to every question – a solution to every issue, again, whether new build or replacement heating.
“It’s been an interesting few years as we’ve built the ranges of radiators we can offer installers – not just in sizes but in designs and more recently in particular, in colours, with a wider range of coloured radiators available more quickly and many actually available from stock,” says Marketing Director at Stelrad, Chris Harvey.

Perhaps most interesting is the growth in interest in the traditional radiator ranges that had their heyday many decades ago. The rise and rise of the growing cast iron radiator ranges and the popularity of the newly released Italian designer column radiator range in response to customer demand shows the increase in demand for the styles of the last century but with the manufacturing quality and colour choices of this one – giving these ranges in particular another lease of life, in particular for older homes and ones where interior designers are getting involved in the décor as older houses and apartments are spruced up to modern day standards and modern comfort heating requirements but keeping to traditional looks and style.
The days when you could have any colour radiator in your home so long as it was white….are long gone! Today you are not limited to a traditional white radiator – there is the freedom to choose the mist suitable colour radiator that will complement the colour scheme of a room – and different colours in different rooms if you wish.
In 2025, Stelrad introduced a new quicker turnaround service for the supply of some of its radiators in colour. Initially this new rapid turnaround service applied to the popular Column and Concord ranges, and to the Classic Towel Rail, Caliente and Concord towel rail products when ordered in one of the now 55 standard RAL colours and finishes within the huge range of radiators. The lead time had been reduced from the previous standard eight weeks down to just fourteen days.
Earlier in 2026, Stelrad announced phase 2 of the rollout of the same rapid turnaround for coloured radiators from a wider range of its options to include models in its Compact with Style, Planar, Vita Silhouette, Vita Deco, Vita Plan, Vita Vertical, Softline Silhouette, Softline Deco, Softline Plan, Softline Vertical, Henrad Silhouette, Henrad Everest Line, Henrad Plan, Henrad Vertical, Henrad Arno Towel Rail and Henrad Verona Towel Rail products.
